Overview
As we continue to grow we are looking for a passionate and talented Environmental Field Team Leader - Ornithologist to work with our environment team on exciting infrastructure projects across Canada.
One key project you will work on is the Alto high-speed rail project connecting Québec City to Toronto as an experienced partner within the Cadence consortium. This consortiumcomprising CDPQ InfraAtkinsRéalis SYSTRA Canada Keolis Canada Air Canada and SNCF Voyageurswas selected by the Canadian government to develop the project following a rigorous bidding process. Your role
To plan organize and assign daily tasks to field team members while ensuring all required equipment materials and permits are ready for deployment.
To actively participate in field surveys and sampling applying standardized engineering methodologies consistently across all data collection activities.
To validate review and secure data by checking accuracy and completeness implementing daily backup procedures and maintaining compliance with projectspecific requirements.
To monitor field performance and protocol adherence ensuring procedures quality standards and engineering best practices are followed at all times.
To provide guidance training and mentorship to team members fostering a positive collaborative and resilient work environment during long hours repetitive tasks or remote field conditions.
To implement and enforce health and safety plans conduct daily safety briefings perform hazard assessments and promote a strong safety culture in the field.
To communicate progress risks and recommendations to project managers prepare concise summary notes and contribute to technical engineering reports as required.
About you
Degree or diploma in Environmental Science Biology Ecology or related field.
Minimum5 years of experience in field surveys forbirds and their habitat.
Strong knowledge ofbirdspeciesbirdsongsand breeding evidence codes.
Proven leadership and organizational skills with the ability tomaintainteam cohesion and motivation during extended fieldwork in remote areas.
Familiarity with GPS data loggers and relevant software.
Valid drivers license and ability to travel to remote locations.
First Aid and WHMIS certification (or willingness to obtain).
BilingualFrench/English(written and spoken) is an asset
Working Conditions:
Field-based travel across Québec and Ontario; exposure to variable weather wildlife and remote terrain for extended periods of time.
Occasional evening/weekend work aligned with field windows.
Use of vehicles boats/ATVs (as applicable) and field equipment withappropriate trainingand PPE.

Expected compensation for this role is between $73400- $100900 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills experience and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
