Laboratory Technician
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Laboratory Technician to join our Toxicology this role you will be responsible for performing toxicology-specific laboratory testing maintaining quality control processes troubleshooting specialized equipment and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical skills accountability and a dedication to excellence in toxicology laboratory operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct clinical toxicology urine testing including screening and confirmation methods as well as other testing procedures established within the toxicology department.
- Perform test procedures on patient specimens in strict adherence to the Sections Standard Operating Procedures to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Analyze review and interpret test results to ensure analytical integrity identifying and resolving any inconsistencies.
- Perform and document Quality Control procedures to maintain compliance and ensure test accuracy within control limits.
- Initiate corrective actions for incomplete inconclusive or inaccurate testing data.
- Maintain the operational status of major automated equipment by performing routine maintenance calibration and troubleshooting as needed.
- Assist in evaluating and implementing new procedures and equipment to keep the laboratory aligned with current advancements in toxicology technology.
- Participate in continuing education training and teaching opportunities to enhance technical skills and meet Section Performance Standards.
- Manage inventory of reagents and laboratory supplies to ensure uninterrupted workflow.
- Adhere to all safety protocols quality standards and regulatory requirements relevant to toxicology laboratory operations.
- Perform other related duties as needed within the scope of the position.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors degree in a science-related field (e.g. Biology Chemistry or a related discipline)
- No prior experience required.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand walk and bend for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity to handle instruments and perform precise tasks.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform under pressure.
