Job Summary
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Audiologist will evaluate auditory function of patients; provide rehabilitation for patients; refer patients to other appropriate clinics and counsel patients on hearing conservation and/or hearing loss. The Senior Audiologist will also assist in training medical and audiology students as well as non-medical staff.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
Evaluate auditory function of patients utilizing diagnostic audiologic tests that include but are not limited to pure tone and speech testing immittance testing otoacoustic emission testing etc.
Evaluate vestibular system with videonystamography (VNG) procedures.
Perform advanced electrophysiologic tests that include but are not limited to Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) testing Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potential (VEMP) testing and Electrocochleography (ECochG) testing.
Experience with Cochlear Implant evaluation device selection programming and counseling.
Interpret results and counsel patients regarding their test results to determine a course of treatment and review options that best meet their hearing care needs.
Effectively communicate diagnostic test results diagnoses and proposed treatments to the referring provider/service.
Appropriately refer to an otolaryngologist.
Provide hearing aid services including hearing aid evaluation hearing aid dispensing and hearing aid adjustments/follow up with appropriate counseling.
Documents each patient encounter including results diagnoses recommendations instructions given to the patient etc.
Provide in-service training for medical and audiology students and non-medical staff
Interact and work with related services such as speech-language pathology pediatrics neonatology etc. to ensure continuity of patient care.
Assist with coordination of audiological services and activities in the neighborhood health centers schools and appropriate agencies.
Maintain clinic material and equipment including periodic calibration checks
May conduct research on types ofand treatment forhearing balance and related disorders.
Meets Hospital-wide standards in the following areas:
Conforms to hospital standards of performance and conduct including those pertaining to patient rights so that the best possible customer service and patient care may be provided congruent with AIDET standards.
Utilizes Hospitals attributes as the basis for decision-making and to facilitate the divisions hospital mission.
Follows established Infection Control and Safety Procedures.
Perform other duties as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Doctor of Audiology (Au.D) degree
Will consider Sc.D. Ph.D. M.A. or M.S. degree in Audiology
CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
Current Audiologist license issued by the board of registration for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology in Massachusetts
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) granted by American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA).
EXPERIENCE:
Experience with all age groups.
Hearing Aid experience preferred.
Minimum 1-2 years post-doctorate Clinical Audiology experience is desired; however will consider a strong new graduate (i.e. experience in a large medical setting).
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Requires knowledge of the theories principles and practices of audiology.
Ability to coach and provide training to medical and non-medical personnel in audiology.
Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain harmonious relationships.
Ability to read write and communicate effectively.
Proficient with standard Microsoft programs (i.e. MS Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook) and web browsers.
Compensation Range:
$78000.00- $113000.00This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer.
