Overview

As part of AtkinsRéalis Engineering Services group the municipal infrastructure team specializes in providing a full range engineering services for infrastructure projects to local national and international clients.

The municipal infrastructure team is looking for a Municipal Engineer to join our growing team to work on one the most important Canadian airport projects. The position is 100% in-office in Toronto.

Your role

• Provides advice guidance and subject matter expertise throughout the planning design and delivery of the program as it relates to municipal infrastructure design and construction including compliance with all relevant codes and standards.

• Ensures that Municipal design and construction comply with technical requirements including design reviews submittal reviews and testing.

• Conducting Facility Alteration Permit (FAP) compliance reviews for all proposed upgrades alterations maintenance work and new construction to ensure adherence to applicable regulations codes standards and requirements including assessment if proposed methodology criteria and designs are reasonable.

• Providing non-resident engineering expertise through field inspections during various stages of construction.

• Oversees servicing including water sanitary sewer storm water gas roads bridges underground lift stations and parking garages and providing expert advice on capacity demand and reliability of existing systems.

• Assesses alternative technical proposals submitted by the contractor and provides feedback as to the feasibility of the proposal and alignment to requirements.

• Coordinates the technical elements of the program with respect to municipal infrastructure engineering including establishing targets / goals for the program.

• Coordinates the interface between other engineering and architectural disciplines to ensure integration and coordination across programs facilities and assets.

• Reviews deliverables submitted by the contractor / designer and confirms compliance to the relevant requirements codes and standards.

• Monitors the input of the designer throughout the construction phase (RFIs shop drawings material approvals mock-up approvals punch list etc.

• Provides Management level progress reports and briefings with respect to structural design progress issues and opportunities.

• Coaching mentoring and supporting the career development of project staff.

About you

• Recognized degree in civil engineering with municipal engineering concentration. Relevant professional designation is considered an asset.

• Minimum 7 years of experience in municipal infrastructure design construction commissioning distribution system protection control capacity and future demand requirements operations and maintenance of water distribution sanitary and storm water management systems and environmental engineering principles for major developments including requirements unique to airports and Canadian aerodrome standards.

• Extensive knowledge of applicable local provincial and federal regulations codes and standards as it relates to municipal infrastructure and environmental requirements.

• Strong knowledge of underground servicing municipal road design and water resource principles.

• Experience with preliminary and final design of roads bridges and municipal systems and facilities.

• Experience developing and reviewing servicing grading and drainage designs and performing field inspections related to municipal works and standards.

• Demonstrated experience in use of MicroStation/BIM/AutoCAD Bentley InRoads/OpenRoads Designer 3D modelling programs.

• Knowledge to apply the principles of asset management for municipal infrastructure.

• Good stakeholder engagement and communication skills including the ability to facilitate meeting / workshops with large groups of stakeholders.

The Airport team is looking for a Municipal Engineer to join our growing team to work on one of the most important Canadian airport projects.

This role is based in Toronto On. and the position requires being 100% in-office (5 days a week).

Your role

• Lead the Planning team in delivering high-quality airport planning activities including concept/master planning land-use planning forecasting and flow optimization.

• Conduct capacitydemand gap analyses across all airport systems from airside to groundside infrastructure and develop actionable recommendations.

• Oversee terminal capacity and demand assessments including baggage systems and related operational components.

• Develop activity forecasts for airside terminal and groundside areas to inform long-term infrastructure strategies.

• Produce analytical planning reports and simulation models that reflect existing and future airport operations.

• Collaborate with Program Leads PMO Services and Technical Shared Services to ensure effective integration of planning requirements into the program.

• Guide and mentor team members while managing key stakeholder relationships to support successful planning outcomes.

About you

• Minimum 15 years of experience in large capital programs in planning development engineering or architecture.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in major international airport projects or equivalent large-scale infrastructure programs.

• Expert knowledge of airport planning practices Transport Canada standards and methodologies for modelling simulation and analytical data processes.

• Demonstrated ability to manage teams senior stakeholders and strategic reporting for complex airport initiatives.

• Strong capability in problem-solving data analytics and facilitating workshops with diverse stakeholder groups.

Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $125000 - $171900 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills experience and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
