Our network of 120 food pantries affordable housing sites and JCCs provide services directly in neighborhoods across New York City.

Position Summary:

The Food Warehouse CDL Driver is responsible for safely operating a 26-foot truck to pick up and distribute food while supporting day-to-day warehouse operations when not on the road.

Please note: The schedule for this position is Monday through Thursday 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Friday 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This position does not require weekend work.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Pick up food from partner agencies suppliers and other donors
• Deliver food to agencies courteously and on time
• Oversee the loading and unloading of the truck
• Maintain accurate vehicle logs and track deliveries
• Coordinate pickups and deliveries with other drivers
• Perform routine truck maintenance and daily vehicle inspections
• Support day-to-day warehouse operations when needed (including moving pallets stacking product organizing the warehouse and conducting inventory)
• Additional responsibilities as assigned

Skill and Education:

• High-school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience (required)
• Valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with clean driving record (required)
• 5 years of experience driving a truck with a CDL
• Ability to operate warehouse equipment including electric jacks and forklift (required); 5 years of experience operating warehouse equipment (preferred)
• Familiarity with New York City roads
• Comfortable using an iPad/tablet and smartphone for data entry inventory management and communication
• Ability to read/write/speak English

Physical Demands/Special Requirements:

• Requires extended periods of standing walking and performing manual labor both indoors and outdoors including in inclement weather.
• Requires the ability to lift carry and move heavy items (up to 30-pounds to stock shelves) on a regular basis.
• Steel-toe work boots must be worn at all times while in the warehouse. Clothing should be appropriate for a professional setting and public interactions avoiding any profanity political statements or offensive branding.

Compensation: $21 - $25 per hour commensurate with skills and experience
