Job Summary

Ohmstede Ltd is seeking a Welder Helper to perform the necessary tasks required to fabricate or repair shell and tube heat exchangers of various types and other equipment associated with the refining and petrochemical process industry.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Must comprehend instructions from supervisors and/or co-
  • Must pass pre-employment welding
  • Applies knowledge of welding
  • Communicates verbally/effectively in English with supervisors and co-workers for resolution of any questions that may arise regarding safety job conduct or product quality control.
  • Repairs exchanger parts channel heads and
  • Assist Welder Fitters as
  • Performs acetylene
  • Performs grinding inside shell and or on tube as
  • Operates vehicles and power tools when authorized and qualified to do so and in accordance with established company rules and work orders.
  • Cleans up work area and equipment after work is
  • Complies with all applicable rules regulations policies and procedures of the
  • Must be able to work when necessary plus overtime day or night and/or

Marginal Job Functions:

  • Aids crane operator by visual and voice signals when parts are being
  • Assists in tool Hands out tools record keeping.
  • Uses broom and other cleaning equipment to maintain the work area in a clean orderly
  • Assist in shipping and receiving material/record
  • Company reserves the right to assign jobs and tasks not specified

Equipment/Clothing Used to Perform Job:

  • Protective Equipment: Gloves safety shoes safety glasses hearing protections goggles respiratory protection (Welding Fume respirator) welding hoods face shields and cutting glasses as required
  • Assorted long and short handled tools
  • Various power tools including grinders
  • Weld machines and cutting stations

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One to two years of relaied experience
  • Knowledge of grinding practices
  • Working knowledge of fabrication shop practice
  • Must be able to read and write English
  • Accurately read and interpret measuring devices

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to bend push pull twist squat crawl lift and reach overhead
  • Requires the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds

Work Environment

  • May be exposed to chemicals and pinching hazards
  • Will work in heat noisy dusty dirty cold environment
