Position Summary

The Shipping Associate is responsible for preparing packing and shipping finished goods via domestic LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) and parcel carriers. This role ensures all shipments are packaged securely labeled correctly and shipped on time to meet customer expectations while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Pack and crate products according to company standards to ensure safe transit
• Build custom crates and use appropriate packaging materials to protect fragile or high-value items
• Prepare and process domestic shipments using LTL and parcel carriers (e.g. FedEx UPS)
• Accurately label shipments and verify shipping documentation
• Weigh measure and record shipment details for carrier compliance and cost accuracy
• Coordinate with shipping office or supervisors to prioritize daily shipments
• Load and stage shipments for carrier pickup
• Inspect finished goods prior to shipment to ensure quality and accuracy
• Maintain inventory of packaging materials and notify leadership of shortages
• Follow all safety procedures including proper use of tools and equipment
• Keep shipping and staging areas clean and organized
• Assist with cycle counts inventory movement or material handling as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 1 year of experience in shipping warehouse or manufacturing environment is required
• 1-3 years of experience in shipping warehouse or manufacturing environment preferred
• Experience with LTL and parcel shipping processes strongly preferred
• Ability to read and interpret packing instructions work orders and shipping documents
• Basic computer skills; experience with shipping systems or ERP (SAP a plus)
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift push and pull up to 50 lbs (occasionally more with assistance)
• Frequent standing bending and lifting throughout the shift
• Ability to operate pallet jacks forklifts or other material handling equipment (if certified)

Preferred Skills

• Experience building crates or custom packaging solutions
• Familiarity with freight class dimensions and shipping cost impacts
• Knowledge of basic carrier requirements for LTL and parcel shipments
