The role
As Tooling Service Technician you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful operation and maintenance of tooling equipment utilised in our manufacturing processes. You will possess a strong technical background in tooling and mould maintenance along with a proactive approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving. You will be responsible for both preventative and corrective maintenance of molds and tooling systems ensuring they operate efficiently and reliably. You will collaborate closely with other functional teams to optimise processes and improve tool changes leading to enhanced productivity. Additionally you will be tasked with documenting maintenance procedures and providing training to other team members fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safety.
Monday - Friday 8:00am-16:00pm
As a Tooling Technician at IPL you will:
Perform regular maintenance and repairs on moulds and tooling equipment.
Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with tooling and production processes.
Lead structured root cause analysis for tooling related issues.
Maintain accurate records of tooling maintenance repairs and modifications.
Collaborate with other functional areas to design and implement improvements to tooling.
Assist in the setup and changeover of moulds and dies for production runs.
Train and provide support to junior technicians and production staff on tooling procedures.
Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards during tooling operations.
Maintain accurate tool servicing process documentation.
Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Adherence to plant safety protocols and lockout/tagout procedures.
Support new tooling trials for function durability and performance.
Work with external suppliers for repairs and modifications reviewing and verifying quality.
What you will bring to the role:
Ability to interpret technical drawings and mould schematics.
Proper techniques for cleaning and polishing mould components without damaging surfaces.
Analytical thinking to identify root causes of mould or tooling issues.
Knowledge of safety protocols in handling heavy tools and working with high-temperature equipment.
Ability to document work performed and communicate effectively with engineers and production teams.
Prioritise tasks efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
Proven experience with disassembling cleaning and reassembling complex injection moulds.
Familiarity with mould design hot runner systems and hydraulic/pneumatic components.
