Full-time Contract Onsite
$18.60 per hour 35 hrs/week
Start date: May 4 2026 for eight weeks
This position is thanks to support from Employment and Social Development Canada - Canada Summer Jobs program. Participants will also be encouraged to complete a questionnaire to report on their experience with the Canada Summer Jobs program. As per requirements of this grant the successful candidate must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment.
- Be either Canadian Permanent Resident or Refugee. International students and those who are here in Canada on a work youth or visitor visa/permit are not eligible for the program.
- Have a valid SIN.
- Be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.

What will you be doing as the Graphic Designer (Assistant)
The Graphic Designer (Assistant) will support digital and print design needs for Pride Month. Tasks include creating social media assets signage posters festival branding materials accessibility templates and supporting the overall creative direction of Pride Toronto.
Based on the nature of this role the Graphic Designer (Assistant) may need to work weekends and evenings outside of regular work hours to support events planned throughout May and June.
All Pride Toronto Summer Students must be available to work Pride Festival Weekend (June 25-28). Pride Festival Weekend is full of performances art and parades celebrating the 2SLGBTQI communities. No matter their role all members of the Pride Toronto team support the Pride Festival through various operational and programming tasks that ensure the events are safe fun and memorable.
Other responsibilities include:
Digital & Print Design Production
- Create digital assets such as social media graphics website banners promotional tiles and newsletter visuals.
- Design print materials including posters brochures flyers credentials programs maps and informational guides.
- Assist with updating and adapting Pride Torontos brand templates for various departments.
- Support the development of accessible design documents following AODA and WCAG guidelines.
Festival Branding & Creative Direction Support
- Assist in producing large-scale festival branding materials such as stage signage parade banners zone signage and wayfinding visuals.
- Help design creative elements for Pride 365 programming community events and outreach activities.
- Collaborate with the Marketing and Programming teams to ensure all designs align with Pride Torontos artistic direction.
Content Preparation & Asset Organization
- Prepare files for print digital distribution and large-format production ensuring correct sizing and specifications.
- Organize design assets imagery fonts and brand elements in shared folders for easy access by team members.
- Support the creation of photo libraries style guides and branded templates for internal use.
Accessibility & Inclusive Design
- Assist in designing materials with a focus on readability clarity contrast and inclusive representation.
- Create accessible versions of documents such as schedules maps and program guides.
- Ensure text size contrast and layout meet accessibility standards.
Collaborative Creative Work
- Work closely with the Marketing Team to brainstorm concepts discuss visual direction and refine drafts.
- Support other departments (e.g. Fundraising Community Engagement Operations) by designing materials tailored to their needs.
- Participate in creative meetings contribute ideas and help keep design work consistent with festival themes.
Onsite Creative & Marketing Support (Festival Weekend)
- Assist with last-minute creative needs such as resizing signage updating event materials or preparing visual assets.
- Support marketing photographers and videographers by helping identify key moments and ensuring branding visibility.
- Help distribute and install printed materials such as posters signage and directional guides.
Brand Quality Control & Review
- Help review materials created by other teams for brand consistency correct logo usage and alignment with Pride Torontos visual identity.
- Provide basic feedback on visual layout accessibility and clarity to ensure all public-facing materials meet expected standards.
Administrative & Project Tracking
- Maintain spreadsheets tracking design requests deadlines and approvals.
- Assist with preparing final files for printers confirming proofs and reviewing samples for quality.
- Support documentation of completed design work for recap reports and portfolios.
What are we looking for
Qualifications and skills required of the role.
- Youth between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- Minimum one year of customer service experience
- Highly organized and experienced with MS Office G-Suite platform and other online tools
- Strong communication skills
- Commitment to environmental sustainability
- Knowledge and understanding of the 2SLGBTQI community
- Demonstrated administrative background
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
- This position requires you to work from our office Mondays to Fridays between 9:00am-5:00pm.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for meetings and events (lieu time provided to be provided for hours worked)
- Ability to perform physical tasks including occasional heavy lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required to support on-site event production needs. The ideal candidate is hands-on and adaptable willing to assist with logistical tasks to ensure seamless event execution
