Project Overview

This role sits within the Customer UX team and focuses on driving design strategy and execution across the digital travel experience. The Lead Designer will guide complex multi-platform initiatives elevate design quality and contribute to the evolution of design systems.

The position requires a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on design expertise along with the ability to lead teams collaborate across functions and align user experience with business goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and lead design strategy for large-scale multi-platform initiatives aligned with business and user needs
  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level designers ensuring consistent design quality and growth
  • Collaborate with product engineering and business stakeholders to drive user-centered decisions
  • Lead the design of complex omnichannel user journeys across platforms and devices
  • Establish and enforce design standards interaction patterns and governance practices
  • Oversee creation of high-fidelity prototypes and support validation through user research
  • Partner with internal teams to evolve and scale the design system
  • Manage multiple design initiatives while maintaining high attention to detail and consistency

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in HCI Information Design Communications Computer Systems Visual Design or related field
  • 6 10 years of UI/UX design experience
  • 3 years in a senior or lead design role

Core Experience:

  • Proven experience leading design teams and mentoring designers
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating complex design work leadership and business impact
  • Experience presenting to senior leadership and executive stakeholders
  • Expertise in modern UI/UX tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Deep understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices
  • Experience working across web mobile and emerging platforms
  • Strong background in cross-functional collaboration with product engineering and research teams
  • Experience in design strategy roadmap planning and resource allocation

Technical & Soft Skills

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in UI/UX design and prototyping tools
  • Strong understanding of interaction design visual systems and design principles
  • Experience with design systems and scalable design frameworks
  • Familiarity with user research usability testing and validation methods
  • Working knowledge of front-end technologies across web iOS and Android (preferred)

Soft Skills:

  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and drive alignment
  • Strong problem-solving and strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience in airline or large enterprise environments
  • Advanced degree in design or related field
  • Strong foundation in visual design principles (layout typography color theory)
  • Experience with user research methodologies and testing
