Mainframe Developer Job Description

Experience: 8 Years
Location: Pune/Hyderabad
Employment Type: Full-time/Contract

Key Responsibilities

Design develop and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL JCL and DB2.
Work extensively on batch processing file handling and mainframe utilities.
Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Perform debugging troubleshooting and performance tuning of existing applications.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Agile environments.
Ensure adherence to SDLC processes coding standards and best practices.
Participate in code reviews and maintain proper documentation.

Required Skills & Experience

8 years of hands-on experience in Mainframe development.
Strong expertise in COBOL JCL and DB2.
Solid experience in batch processing and file handling.
Good understanding of SDLC processes and Agile methodologies.
Familiarity with version control tools (e.g. Git SVN).
Strong analytical debugging and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment.

Good to Have

Experience in production support and incident management.
Exposure to modernization or integration with distributed systems.
Knowledge of banking/financial domain (if applicable).
