Purpose of the Role
This position is intended to provide consistent day-to-day HR infrastructure and staff support reduce operational risk and allow school leadership to focus on instructional quality and strategic priorities.

Position Summary
The Human Resources Manager is a mid-level HR professional responsible for providing consistent day-to-day HR operations and staff support. This role ensures compliance with employment regulations strengthens onboarding and employee relations practices and reduces operational risk allowing school leadership to focus on instructional quality and strategic priorities.
This position is well-suited for an HR professional with experience in a school nonprofit or similarly regulated environment who values both systems-building and people-centered work.
Core Responsibilities
Onboarding & Offboarding
- Coordinate new hire onboarding including employment paperwork compliance requirements and systems access
- Support annual staff onboarding and orientation
- Manage offboarding processes and documentation
HR Operations & Compliance
- Maintain personnel files and HR systems (e.g. Bamboo benefits platforms credential tracking)
- Track and support mandated trainings certifications and credential requirements
- Support leave tracking accommodations and return-to-work processes
Employee Relations & Supervisor Support
- Serve as a first point of contact for HR-related questions
- Support supervisors with performance documentation and improvement plans
- Assist with employee relations issues in coordination with leadership
- Lead employee complaint investigations
Policies & Procedures
- Maintain and update the employee handbook and HR policies consistent with State and Federal requirements
- Support consistent application of policies across departments
- Assist with annual policy review and updates
Benefit Administration
- Coordinate annual benefit renewal process with external broker and Director of Finance
- Coordinate annual benefit enrollment process and meeting for staff
- Serve as onsite benefit administrator in supporting staff inquiries and serve as interface with broker representative
- Assist employees with navigating benefit related questions with benefit providers
Recruitment Support
- Manage job postings application flow and interview logistics
- Coordinate reference checks and offer letters
- Support consistent hiring processes and documentation in Bamboo
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or equivalent professional experience
- 35 years of progressive human resources experience
- Working knowledge of California employment law and HR compliance
- Experience maintaining confidential personnel records and HR systems
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage sensitive issues with discretion professionalism and empathy
Preferred
- HR experience in a school nonprofit or mission-driven organization
- Familiarity with BambooHR or similar HRIS platforms
- Experience supporting credential tracking or regulated staff environments
- HR certification (PHR SHRM-CP) preferred but not required
Work Environment & Schedule
- Part-time role (approximately 3 days per week)
- Onsite presence required
- Some schedule flexibility available
- Occasional evening availability during onboarding or benefits enrollment periods
Compensation
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and scope aligned with a 60% FTE position.
