Responsibilities
As a PRN Mental Health Worker member of our Internal Resource Pool you will be the heartbeat of support helping teams deliver quality care every shift. Youll have the flexibility to pick up shifts between 200 and 900 hours per year (12 months from hire). Working under the supervision of licensed clinical staff youll play an essential role in maintaining patient comfort safety and efficient unit operations.
- Assist with direct patient care including vital signs hygiene mobility feeding intake/output and other daily activities.
- Support nurses and providers in patient monitoring documentation and coordination to ensure seamless patient care.
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of patient rooms equipment and supplies to promote a safe and organized environment.
- Provide clerical and administrative support facilitating communication within the care team.

Our Community Behavioral Health Center is licensed to 73 beds carries an average daily census of 69 patients and has an average length of stay of 5-6 days. Here under the supervision of the Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse you will assist in the delivery of daily care. As a Mental Health Worker you will provide direct patient care and assistance with basic life skills to our patients.
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma High School Equivalency (HSE) or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required
Successful completion of one of the following three options: (1) Obtain a diploma/certificate from an accredited Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program; (2) Obtain a diploma/certificate from an accredited Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program; or (3) Nursing Fundamental courses from an accredited clinical RN or LVN program (typically done in the 1st semester) required
Current enrollment in an accredited school of Nursing for RN or LVN program preferred
Experience
Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Mental Health Worker is required. Positions in Labor & Delivery require a minimum of two (2) years of experience.
Licenses and Certifications
BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required
One of the following is required:
CNA - State of California Certified Nursing Assistant Certification (active of inactive status is acceptable)
EMT - Emergency Medical Technician Certification issued by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Certification issued by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (active or inactive status is acceptable)
RN or LVN Student/Graduate
