The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the successful design andqualification testing of downhole production tools for oil and gas wells to meet our customers requirements. This role also includes the maintenance of existing design. The candidate will provide technical expertise and leadership to the engineering team. The successful candidate will be highly self-motivated hands-on and able to work in a quick-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical systems and components. Conduct analysis to evaluatethe mechanical systems and components to meet the project requirements.
- Provide technical guidance to the team members in design manufacturing andoperation.
- Generate layouts and detailed engineering calculations for new and modifiedequipment designs.
- Actively participate in development design reviews and make best choicerecommendations.
- Participate in developing design and installation specifications and commissioning plansfor the design
- Lead the assembly and lab testing of prototypes for product qualification.
- Review part and assembly drawings and advise on assembly and manufacturability.
- Develop acceptance tests and inspection criteria for evaluating equipment and technicalMRO (maintenance repair and operations) to operation team.
- Generate documentation of specification assembly and repair of the new products.
- Troubleshoot field related challenges and provide best practices for field operation.
- Initiate check and approve change notices test requests and write test reports.
- Work with minimum supervision and capable of leading a project.
- Maintain a strong safety and environmental compliance focus
- Travel to field location(s) to support engineering testing as needed
Qualifications:
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years (10 years or greaterpreferred) of experience in new product development
- Strong knowledge in mechanical design and engineering practices both practical andanalytical.
- Experience in the design of gas production and separation tool and other downholewireline and completion Oil and Gas Tools.
- Experience in sand management
- Other industries experience in automotive and industrial equipment is acceptable.
- Experience in full lifecycle of product development including concept design drawingprototyping testing manufacturing field deployment and sustaining.
- Experience in building test setup required to validate performance of the productagainst requirements.
- Ability to work hands-on in a test lab and/or manufacturing facility.
- Good knowledge of material selection of metals seals and standard hardware.
- Good knowledge of manufacturing processes i.e. casting machining heat treat andfabrication along with its assembly process
- Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated strong independent decision-making skills
- Experience with 3D modeling software. SolidWorks is preferred.
- Must have strong computer skills including JIRA SAP Net Suite and Microsoft Office
- General knowledge of project management reliability engineering and root causeanalysis
Physical Requirements:
- Work is executed both in an office setting and in industrial sites. When involved in theexecution of projects working 8 -hour shifts for a week or so may be required
- At industrial sites may be required to carry equipment (up to 50 pounds) climb stairs andladders work in inclement weather and be on ones feet for an extended period of time
