Brief Description:
Come and join a supportive committed and passionate Child Health Team at Holstep Health. We are a not-for-profit organisation whose purpose is to provide local community-based care. We aim to empower individuals to thrive and address inequity. Our therapy team is not an NDIS provider and we do not provide services to children with NDIS plans. We see children aged from birth to school entry with short term support needs.

YOUR NEW ROLE:
The Paediatric Occupational Therapy position provides services within the Child Health Team - a multi-disciplinary team comprising Occupational Therapy Speech Pathology Psychology Audiology and Allied Health Assistant.
The Paediatric Occupational Therapist is responsible for providing services to children from birth to school entry who require short term goal-directed support in the areas of: self-help learning and playing motor skills social skills and sensory development. This position will be based at our West Heidelberg site. Services include individual and group therapy options as well as connecting to other service providers both within Holstep Health and in the community to ensure a holistic approach to individual client care planning.
YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Provide high quality evidence based occupational therapy services and health education in line with accepted professional standards.
Assessment and management of paediatric occupational therapy clients using individual group education and consultative models.
Provide services in a manner that respects the confidentiality of the client and family.
In collaboration develop implement and evaluate therapy programs appropriate to the work of the Child Health Team.
Refer liaise and consult with others involved in the child and familys healthcare provision including local agencies.
Attendance at monthly Child Health Team and other organisation meetings as required.
Participation in monthly clinical supervision as well as ongoing peer support to ensure services reflect current best clinical practice.
Participation in relevant networks and community forums and maintain links with key external agencies.
Ensure the program and service delivery reflects the cultural and social diversity of the local community.
In collaboration with other team members participate in continual quality improvement initiatives in line with the teams strategic plan.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
To be successful at Holstep Health you will go above and beyond to achieve great results for our clients the organisation and yourself. Were looking for individuals with:
Approved graduate or post-graduate degree in Occupational Therapy / current registration with AHPRA
Experience in paediatrics desirable but not essential
Ability to manage an occupational therapy caseload with support from team.
Experience in developing running and evaluating group and individual therapy programs is desirable but not essential
A willingness to engage in and develop skills to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and implement evidence-based programs that support positive outcomes in early years.
Strong communication skills and an ongoing commitment to developing interpersonal and networking skills.
Ability to work independently and unsupervised as the role requires as well as demonstrated experience in team work.
Demonstrated understanding of child development in the early years and the impact of this on educational outcomes.
Demonstrated commitment to culturally safe and sensitive service provision.
