The Automotive Quality Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all quality assurance functions within a plastic injection molding environment serving the automotive industry. This role ensures that all products meet or exceed customer expectations and regulatory requirements while driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Quality Manager will collaborate cross-functionally to maintain compliance with industry standards and uphold a strong culture of quality excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management
Develop implement and maintain a comprehensive Quality Management System aligned with IATF 16949:2016 and automotive industry standards
Establish and enforce quality control procedures specifications and best practices
Team Leadership
Lead mentor and manage the quality assurance team including hiring training and performance evaluations
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability across the organization
Quality Audits & Inspections
Conduct internal audits and inspections to evaluate the effectiveness of quality systems
Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve quality issues and ensure corrective actions
Supplier Quality Management
Collaborate with procurement and supplier teams to ensure adherence to quality standards
Develop and manage supplier performance metrics and improvement initiatives
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with all applicable automotive standards regulations and customer-specific requirements
Stay current on evolving industry standards and implement necessary updates
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead quality-driven initiatives
Analyze quality data and key performance indicators to drive operational excellence
Customer Relations
Act as the primary point of contact for customer quality concerns and inquiries
Work closely with customers to resolve issues and maintain strong professional relationships
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Engineering Quality Management or a related field preferred (equivalent experience considered)
Extensive experience in quality management within the automotive manufacturing industry
Strong knowledge of IATF 16949 and automotive quality standards
Proven leadership and team management experience
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Experience with quality tools and methodologies (e.g. root cause analysis corrective actions)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (Epicor preferred) and Microsoft Office 365
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment
