Salary: 12.71 per hour (depending on level of experience training and qualification)
We have an opportunity for a Phlebotomist to join their team of staff in thePathologydepartment.
This is a bank role working on an as and when required basis you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.
Duties of this role include:
- Perform venepuncture procedures safely and accurately in accordance with clinical protocols.
- Provide reassurance and support to patients using a calm and professional approach to reduce anxiety or discomfort.
- Label all specimens clearly and accurately ensuring correct patient details and test requirements.
- Prepare package and transport samples in line with pathology protocols infection prevention guidance and safety standards.
- Adhere strictly to infection prevention and control procedures including PPE use and safe disposal of sharps and clinical waste.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation in phlebotomy areas ensuring they are well-stocked and ready for use.
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Experience in Phlebotomy in a healthcare or clinical setting.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols.
- Understanding of infection prevention patient identification procedures and specimen handling.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
