Job Summary
Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement current bargaining unit employees have priority consideration for this position if they apply within seven (7) days of the posting date. After this period all applicants will be considered equally.
Primary: 10:00am-6:30pm
Secondary: 8:00am-4:30pm (weekend shift)
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Assists the Laboratory Supervisor in achieving efficient Laboratory operation by performing clinical tests. Supports laboratory testing services by performing specimen collection and processing quality control and maintenance functions and results reporting and verification. Participates in training and in-service programs to maintain and upgrade competency at the level required by the Supervisor as procedures are changed or added.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/SKILLS REQUIRED:
or eligible (application pending with a limited license in effect) as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York.
with a limited license must obtain full license within New York State guidelines.
Degree in Medical Technology (hospital-based formal internship required) OR
Degree in related science from an accredited college with subsequent relevant clinical laboratory experience for one year. Degree must include sufficient science and math credits to meet minimum NYSDOH requirements for a Technologist.
NCA or equivalent certification is highly recommended.
of an accredited MLT Program who also meets requirement #4 above the last year of which includes clinical training and a clinical internship constitutes 6 months of relevant experience. A person hired with these qualifications would be required to be under the supervision of another MT or a supervisor for the first 6 months of employment.
As applicable the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
