WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Slate is looking for an energetic and organized Design Release Engineer Electrical Accessories to lead the development of electrical accessory point integration. This position will work with the electrical hardware systems and software teams along with the accessory group to develop robust and cost-effective accessory connection points.
This Engineer will report to the Manager of Electrical Modules and Accessories. Responsibilities will be broad in scope and complex requiring creativity superior initiative good judgement and leadership skills.
This is a hands-on position that will require 50% domestic travel to the assembly plant marketing events and test trips.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO
Define requirements for electrical accessories including wiring harnesses control modules lighting and other components.
Develop designs using CAD software while ensuring compatibility with vehicle systems.
Work with various engineering teams (mechanical electrical software) to ensure seamless integration of accessories.
Collaborate with manufacturing purchasing and other stakeholders to support production and resolve issues.
Utilize LEAN Engineering methodologies throughout.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Electronics Engineering Computer Engineering Software Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited (or equivalent) program. Masters degree is preferred.
5 years of relevant experience in automotive electrical design and release.
Hands on experience with open loop and closed loop control systems for sensors actuators body controllers ECUs etc.
Hands on experience with Low Voltage (LV) components such as circuit breakers relays wiring etc.
Hands on experience with High Voltage (HV) components such as DCDC converter motor and inverter battery on-board charger etc.
Hands on experience with CAN LIN and Ethernet communication protocols.
Experience using problem solving methodologies to diagnose complex issues such as 8D Five Whys and Fishbone processes.
Functional experience with industry standards and regulatory requirements such as FMVSSS NHTSA DOT USCAR SAE NEC etc.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
Highly adaptable and proactive excelling in fast-paced start-up and new model launch environments.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook Teams Word Excel PowerPoint).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the ability to travel (up to 50%).
Must have the ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
Must have the ability to stand walk and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
