Head of Financial Planning Civil Aerospace

Location: Derby UK (Hybrid)

Reports to: Head of Financial Planning & Analysis

Full Time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Head of Financial Planning to join our Finance Team in Derby. This role is central to Civils financial forecasts and has high impact across Civil with interactions across all Business areas into Group Finance and regular engagement with Civil CFO and the Civil Aerospace Leadership Team (CALT).

The role purpose is to lead the Financial Planning team with responsibility for planning consolidating challenging analysing and reporting of Civils In-Year and Medium-term Financial Forecasts e.g. 39 84 Budget and 5 Year Plan.

What you will be doing:

Planning

Ensure Civils perspective is included in all Group Requirements and that submissions are built from robust assumptions and drivers.

Consolidating & Challenging

Work with Civil Business areas to create a coherent VBM forecast and challenge the businesses to meet their commitments (Perform) and then identify and drive improvements (Transform).

Analysing

Deep dive key topic areas e.g. LTSA Profitability Working Capital delivery to investigate understand challenge and then explain the Enterprise level position to senior stakeholders.

Reporting

Deliver all CALT and Group requirements on time and to a high standard clearly explaining Civils position internally to Group to the Board and External analysts.

Facilitate the use of the forecasts across the organisation e.g. value stream frameworks downside scenarios viability assessments and deferred tax valuations.

Key Goals

• Improve forecast accuracy by focusing on areas highlighted by actual performance.
• Improve / streamline processes to reduce forecast cycle time increasing agility and relevance.
• Enhance working capital forecasting supporting Inventory and overhaul base trading projects.
• Embed Planning Community of Practices as a route to improve capability and consistency of forecasts.

Preferred requirements:

• Qualified accountant with experience in Management roles dealing with senior stakeholders and identifying and solving complex problems.
• Senior stakeholder engagement and presentation skills (simplify complexity for Executive level)
• Ability to influence across the business without direct authority.
• Expertise in a particular area of Finance (Business Partnering FP&A Reporting Operations etc)
• Team leadership experience
