Job Summary
In accordance with the Vision Purpose and Values and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Manager the Regional Educator leads the development implementation and evaluation of health authority-wide regional education initiatives and uses a strategic and innovative approach to ensure that the designated education is regionally coordinated contextually relevant and mechanisms to support the initiatives are identified. Under the direction of the Manager works with various partners to communicate progress ensures overall understanding of regional initiatives and that specific deliverables meet standards and overall goals. Assesses current and future needs continuous quality improvement gathers input for use in development of overall standards facilitates consensus in the determination of standards policies and guidelines and guides the implementation of standards policies and guidelines for the designated programming within Island Health. Key working relationships are with managers union representatives educators clinicians and external partners such as academic partners and other BC Health Authorities.
Travel is a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Training And Experience
A level of education training and experience equivalent to a Bachelors degree in a related health discipline and five (5) years recent related experience in clinical education. Affiliation/certification with an appropriate professional association. Valid BC Drivers License.

- Applies superior written communication abilities and proficient computer skills in the design and composition of creative high quality interactive learning materials.
- Superior process design and project management abilities applied in the design and development of education strategies and initiatives.
- Strong working knowledge of a variety of software packages to develop design and present various educational and promotional materials for innovative educational programs a Initiatives.
