The Position
Our Global Internship Programme in Innovation & Sustainability (#IP2TIS) offers a unique opportunity for passionate individuals to gain hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical industry while making a positive impact on the world.
Are you ready to join a global network spanning 20 countries where bright minds collaborate to tackle real-world challenges in Innovation & Sustainability Do you want to work on impactful projects shape the future and drive change from within
As an intern you will contribute to a project focused on developing an enantioselective synthesis of a key chiral chemical motif used in ongoing preclinical programs. Within your first 3 months you are expected to synthesize a subset of substrates which will be used in high-throughput reaction screening. You will evaluate the most promising transition-metal catalyzed reaction conditions and work on the transfer of the reaction from milligram to gram scale in automated lab reactors. Your work will support greener chemical process development by reducing waste lowering step count and improving process mass intensity. This internship offers the opportunity to work with modern synthesis tools and contribute to more sustainable chemical manufacturing in drug development.
The Opportunity
Work at the nexus of drug discovery and early development
Focus on an enantioselective transition-metal catalyzed reaction
Contribute to high-throughput reaction screening using modern screening systems and 96-well plate formats
Analyze reaction data to identify promising conditions and assess the generality of the transformation across substrates
Support the transfer of optimized reaction conditions from milligram scale to gram scale in automated lab reactors
Contribute to crystallization development and product isolation as part of chemical process development
Apply green chemistry principles when evaluating reaction efficiency waste reduction and environmental impact
Collaborate with the team to develop a more sustainable and scalable synthetic route for a key chiral building block
Who You Are
You are enrolled or have completed your Masters studies at a university preferably in the field of Organic Chemistry within the last 12 months and are interested in applying your knowledge in a modern working environment as part of an internship of at least 3 months.
Furthermore you are
Experienced in organic synthesis laboratory work
Familiar with analytical methods such as NMR and HPLC
Interested in reaction development scale-up and modern synthesis technologies such as high-throughput screening and automated lab reactors
An analytical thinker who communicates clearly and works well in collaboration with others
Fluent in English; German is a plus
If you meet most but not all qualifications we still encourage you to apply.
Additional information
The internship is expected to start between 1 and 16 July 2026 and will last at least 3 months.
