Systems Development Engineer, DCC Communities

Youll join a diverse team of software hardware and network engineers supply chain specialists security experts operations managers and other vital roles. Youll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. The DCE Security Products and Services org owns a collection of security devices third party software and firmware and home-grown software tools and bespoke hardware solutions. This technology provides both physical and data security at traditional datacenters (lease/owned and Colo) as well as Edge and Non-traditional Environments. Our team is seeking System Development engineers with broad technical skills to help us optimize how we connect to these devices and monitor availability. You will deliver a system that monitors health of security devices understands the criticality of each component and drives prioritization and alarming for remediation of each system. As a member of this team you will employ Python and Typescript/Javascript and Database query language such as SQL. You will get to use the full set of AWS technologies to build these services. The services that you build will be a force multiplier for protecting the AWS cloud for all customers. This will help us preserve our customers trust in us. AWS is a world leader in providing highly available and secure infrastructure in the cloud and it powers millions of customers around the globe.

Key job responsibilities
- Participate in the design development implementation testing and documentation of large-scale multi-tiered distributed software applications tools systems and services.
- Translate functional requirements into robust scalable supportable solutions that work well within the overall system architecture.
- Participate in the full development cycle end-to-end from design implementation and testing to documentation delivery and maintenance.
- Produce comprehensive usable software documentation.
- Evaluate and make decisions around the use of new or existing software products and tools.
- Mentor junior development engineers.

AWS Data Center Operations plans builds and operates the rapidly scaling high availability data centers supporting the AWS business across the globe. Safety security and availability are the most important things we deliver to our external and internal customers. You will build highly scalable systems to automate and maintain high availability of devices in our datacenters.

- 2 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 1 years of designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 7 years of administrative experience in networking storage systems operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience
- Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking storage operating systems)
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C C# Java Python Golang PowerShell Ruby

- Experience with PowerShell (preferred) Python Ruby or Java
- Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
