Interim Director Biomedical Engineering (Clinical Engineering & Central Equipment Services)

- Interim Assignment Minimum 3 Months with Potential Extension

We are seeking an experienced Interim Director of Biomedical Engineering to provide strategic and operational leadership for Biomedical Engineering (BME) and Central Equipment Services (CES) within a large multi-hospital healthcare environment.

This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for ensuring the safe effective and compliant management of medical technology across two acute care facilities. The Director will oversee clinical engineering operations equipment services regulatory compliance capital and operating budgets and medical device lifecycle managementwhile supporting patient safety and system-wide operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Biomedical Engineering and Central Equipment Services operations including staffing performance management and team development
• Oversee medical device lifecycle management including procurement maintenance and disposition
• Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards FDA regulations and all applicable federal/state requirements
• Manage capital and operating budgets forecasting and long-range equipment planning
• Oversee medical device reporting recalls adverse events and risk mitigation in partnership with Risk Management
• Direct hospital equipment inventory distribution and tracking systems
• Collaborate with executive leadership clinical teams and IT on technology evaluation and integration (including EMR/EPIC systems)
• Support policy development operational standards and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Biomedical Engineering Engineering Healthcare Administration or related field (required)
• Masters degree or MBA (preferred)
• CBET CHTM or CCE certification (required)
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in clinical/biomedical engineering
• Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in a healthcare environment
