St Edmundsbury and Ipswich Diocesan Multi-Academy Trust are seeking to appoint an Estates Apprentice to support the effective management of our school estate across Suffolk.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to build a career in estates or facilities management within a values-driven organisation working across a diverse family of Church of England schools. The role combines practical real-world experience with a fully funded Level 3 Facilities Management Supervisor apprenticeship.
About the role
The apprentice will be employed centrally and will work across trust schools supporting the Estates Adviser with contractor management statutory compliance health and safety minor works projects and energy and sustainability activity.
You will gain hands-on experience of how a large multi-site organisation manages its buildings safely efficiently and sustainably while developing the skills needed to progress into a substantive estates or facilities management role.
Key responsibilities include:
supporting the supervision and monitoring of facilities management and maintenance contractors
assisting with reactive repairs and maintenance coordination
maintaining the trusts approved contractor database
supporting statutory compliance activity (e.g. fire safety asbestos legionella electrical and gas testing)
providing day-to-day health and safety support and monitoring risk management actions
assisting with the planning and delivery of minor works and small refurbishment projects
monitoring and analysing energy consumption data identifying trends and contributing to sustainability initiatives.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
has GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics
is organised reliable and keen to learn
has an interest in estates facilities management construction or property
is comfortable working with data and digital systems
is willing to travel between trust schools
is committed to completing an apprenticeship programme
a-levels (or equivalent) and any experience in a facilities maintenance or operational environment are desirable but not essential.
Eligibility
Candidates must be eligible to undertake a funded apprenticeship in England (including residency requirements).
