The Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Chemistry Teacher to join an ambitious Science this role you will be responsible for demystifying the molecular worldfrom the fundamental laws of thermodynamics to the intricate pathways of organic synthesisinspiring students to see Chemistry as the central science that connects all other disciplines.


The Department

Core Responsibilities

  1. Academic Delivery: Teaching Chemistry across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE) with a significant portion of the timetable dedicated to A-Level Chemistry (OCR A or AQA specifications).

  2. Atomic & Molecular Theory: Guiding students through the transition from Bohr models to quantum shells helping them visualize orbital hybridization and molecular geometry.

  3. Quantitative Mastery: Coaching students in the maths of chemistry including complex stoichiometry the Nernst equation and the calculation of enthalpy and entropy changes.

  4. Practical Leadership: Managing the Required Practicals and the A-Level Practical Endorsement ensuring students develop the high-level technical precision required for the laboratory.

  5. STEM Enrichment: Leading the schools Royal Society of Chemistry challenge team and organizing visits to local chemical engineering and pharmaceutical sites.


The Successful Candidate We are looking for a subject specialist who can make a chemical equation feel like a gateway to the future. Requirements include:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Chemistry Chemical Engineering or a related field.

  • Laboratory Precision: An expert understanding of chemical safety (CLEAPSS) and the ability to demonstrate complex experiments with clarity and confidence.

  • Analytical Thinking: The ability to help students deconstruct complex problems using modelling and analogy to explain abstract concepts like equilibrium or reaction mechanisms.

  • Engagement: A teacher who can relate chemical principles to modern issues like lithium-ion battery technology carbon capture and pharmaceutical development.
