Job Summary

A welcoming and diverse secondary school in Manchester is seeking a thoughtful and engaging Religious Education ECT to join its Humanities department this September. The Role

  • Teaching Religious Studies across KS3 and KS4 covering major world religions and ethical themes.

  • Planning and delivering lessons that encourage critical thinking empathy and respect for diverse viewpoints.

  • Supporting pupils with GCSE examination preparation and mastering evaluative essay writing.

  • Facilitating debates on contemporary moral issues such as social justice environment and medical ethics.

  • Contributing to the schools SMSC (Social Moral Spiritual and Cultural) development programme.

  • Organizing or assisting with visits to local places of worship to enhance the curriculum.

  • Participating in the statutory ECT induction sessions and collaborative planning within the Humanities team.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Currently working towards or recently completed Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

  • A degree in Religious Studies Theology Philosophy or a related Humanities subject.

  • A passion for fostering an inclusive classroom where every student feels comfortable sharing their perspective.

  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to handle sensitive topics with maturity.

  • A collaborative mindset and a willingness to learn from experienced practitioners.

  • A proactive organized and reflective approach to starting their teaching career.
