A vibrant and innovative secondary school in Slough is seeking a visionary Head of Design & Technology to lead its creative and technical department from September. This is a full-time permanent position for a leader who is passionate about engineering product design and the future of manufacturing.

The school is looking for a hands-on leader who can manage a diverse department and ensure that D&T remains at the heart of the schools STEM strategy.

The Role

• Strategic Oversight: Defining the direction for D&T including Food Technology Textiles and Product Design.

• Technical Leadership: Ensuring that CAD/CAM 3D printing and traditional workshop skills are integrated effectively into the curriculum.

• Safety & Compliance: Taking overall responsibility for Health & Safety within the workshops ensuring all equipment is maintained and staff are correctly trained.

• Results-Driven: Monitoring and evaluating student progress to ensure the department consistently meets or exceeds national benchmarks.

• STEM Integration: Working closely with the Science and Maths departments to lead whole-school STEM projects and competitions.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in a relevant technical discipline.

• Experience in a middle leadership role within a D&T department.

• Comprehensive knowledge of Health & Safety legislation (DATA certification is highly desirable).

• A passion for innovation and a commitment to keeping the department at the cutting edge of design technology.

• The ability to inspire and lead a team of teachers and technicians.
