CNC Mazak Machinist

Reports To: Area Supervisor of the Mazak Machines
Employment Status: Regular / Full-Time
Reg. Hours Worked: 40/week First Shift
Duties:
1. Set up and run Mazak.
2. Program and edit machine programs.
3. Inspect parts as necessary.
4. Perform maintenance under the guidance of area supervisor.
5. Trouble-shoot machine errors under the guidance of area supervisor.
6. Regular reliable and predicable performance of all required job duties and skills.
7. Other duties as required.
Experience and Educational Background Required:
1. See attached sheet for levels. A current employee must possess all the skills of the next level before advancing to that level and continue to consistently maintain all the skills required in the lower levels.
2. Good mathematics skills.
3. High school diploma or equivalent.
LEVEL #1
Operate Mazak machine with some supervision: use tool eye- sensor possess complete command of control panel understand offsets and tool grinding
(angles rakes dimensional) load barstock.
Produce quality parts with some supervision.
Be aware of part defects and make correct dimensional changes
(X axis Y axis Z axis).
Use mics and calipers accurately.
Correctly perform elementary inspections.
Understand positive and negative numbers angles and tapers.
Understand sections views and tolerances on blueprints.
Use safe shop and operating procedures at all times.
Have good concern for organization and cleanliness.
Take pride in craftsmanship and all duties performed.
LEVEL #2
Understand program structure write and edit basic programs
memorize all program codes use simulator check screens.
Operate Mazak machine without supervision.
Set up machine with some supervision: includes machine tooling
chuck and chuck barriers Z offset teach and barrier teach; operate
Mazak micro disc (upload download label store and edit
programs); methods of production.
Perform more complex inspections of parts accurately.
Correctly read and run production from somewhat complex blueprints.
Consistently produce quality parts without supervision.
Perform common sense maintenance.
Use trigonometry to calculate tapers angles and circle sectors.

Consistently displays a good attitude and leadership qualities.
Understand geometric tolerances.
Write edit program figure methods of production and perform all set up operations for Mazak machine without supervision.
Read understand and run production from all blueprints.
Perform all part inspections accurately.
Correctly trouble-shoot machine errors with little supervision.
Use trigonometry to calculate circle segments and spheres.
Possess good understanding of angles and their relationships.
Perform preventative maintenance with supervision.
Possess broad practical knowledge.
LEVEL #4
Possess good knowledge of machine errors: Servo alarms limit
switch replacement; and correctly trouble-shoot all errors.
Complete all set-up troubleshooting and programming requirements.
Supervise and perform all preventative and complex maintenance.
Consistently identify all department needs including making
recommendations for process improvements to reduce scrap etc.
Perform duties of lead man in his absence.
Assist in the training of new operators as required.
