Job Overview
ND Global Consulting Services Inc. (NDGCS) is seeking dependable and caring Substitute Teacher Aides to support Head Start and Early Head Start classrooms throughout Hillsborough County. This is a temporary part-time role for professionals who can step into classroom support assignments and assist with daily activities in the classroom kitchen playground and busing environment including support for children with special needs. Assignments may vary by location based on program needs.
Key Responsibilities
Assist classroom staff with classroom activities field trips outdoor activities enrollment and attendance related to lesson plans. Help develop and support activities that reflect the cultural backgrounds of the children and families served. Supervise children during mealtimes and model good nutrition and social interaction. Help keep classrooms and classroom contents clean orderly and safe. Support developmentally appropriate and age-appropriate activities. Assist the lead teacher in maintaining a balance of child-directed and teacher-directed activities. Provide general program support which may include preparing classroom materials copying newsletters helping at family nights and making phone calls. Support children with disabilities and follow directions connected to an IEP or IFSP. Sanitize surfaces and store classroom or kitchen materials properly. Assist with janitorial duties if needed and support meal or snack preparation and food service cleanup when required. Serve as sick room attendant if directed. Attend required staff meetings parent meetings trainings and workshops. Help document child abuse concerns as required by law. Maintain confidentiality of child family and staff information and perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required. At least 6 months of experience working with preschool children preferred. Candidates must have completed the 40 clock hours required by the Florida Department of Children and Families. Current First Aid and CPR certification is required. Candidates must be able to work with others follow oral and written instructions and interact directly with children on the floor as part of daily classroom some cases the preschool experience requirement may be waived if the candidate demonstrates strong aptitude and attitude for the role.
Additional Requirements
Candidates must be able to pass all required background and screening checks which may include FDLE/CJIS criminal history Level 1 and Level 2 screening child abuse/neglect checks and sex offender/sexual predator checks. A CDA or FCCPC may be required where applicable. Candidates must be willing to comply with Head Start / Early Head Start dress code ID badge requirements confidentiality requirements and standards of conduct.
Physical Requirements
This role requires regular kneeling stooping bending and sitting on the floor to attend to childrens needs. Candidates must be able to assist with transporting children with special needs on field trips including possible lifting into seats and fastening seat belts. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally 20 pounds frequently and 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
Work Locations
Assignments may be made across multiple Head Start / Early Head Start sites in Hillsborough County including Tampa Plant City Ruskin Seffner Lutz and surrounding service locations.
