Job Summary

Title:Seasonal Carpenter

Position Purpose:

Executing all varieties of carpentry-related construction maintenance renovation and repair projects on campus using high quality carpentry skills.

Job Duties:

  • Coordinate all carpenter work with other building trades.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Communicate well with all customers and understand their needs.
  • Put together sketches of objects to be built in the carpenter shop and installed throughout the campus buildings.
  • Operate all carpenter related equipment.
  • Perform all carpentry related functions.
  • Complete work orders and PM (Preventive Maintenance) activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Trade school diploma or other carpentry credentials desired.
  • Valid Maine drivers license.

Experience

  • 5 years of residential and/or commercial building experience.
  • Ability to work with wood metal or materials necessary for fabrication repair and renovation of all buildings.
  • Knowledge of tools building supplies and hardware associated with building trade.
  • Computer experience and ability to understand CAD drafting uses and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of roofing concrete work window and door installation also desired.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to logically trouble-shoot equipment problems.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions in the context of the job.

  • Ability to use tact and diplomacy to effectively handle a broad range of interpersonal situations and to respond appropriately to conflicts and problems.
  • Ability and willingness to work weekends evenings on-call and other non-traditional schedules.
