Job Summary

THIS POSTING IS FOR 3 POSITIONS

On June 16 2022 Governor Kathy Hochul signed the NYC Public Housing Preservation Trust Act which authorized the creation of the NYC Public Housing Preservation Trust (the Trust). The Trust is a public benefit corporation that will oversee the renovation and rehabilitation of the Citys public housing developments owned by the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA). NYCHA will remain the permanent owner of the land/buildings and will enter a long-term ground lease with the Trust to secure Section 8 vouchers.

The selected caretaker will be a NYCHA employee assigned to Nostrand Houses and will work on behalf of the NYC Public Housing Preservation Trust. They will support caretaking services with a focus on maintaining exterior areas of the development that include lawns shrubs trees recreational areas parking areas paved areas and fences. They will also respond to circumstances that affect the grounds e.g. natural plant growth weather conditions and vandalism.

Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Policing all grounds areas.
2. Performing routine landscaping tasks.
3. Repairing fences benches and playground equipment.
4. Operating motorized vehicles/equipment.
5. Maintaining and/or repairing equipment.
6. Removing snow ice and other weather related hazards.
7. Supplementing development building staff as needed.
8. Assisting residents with registered gardens with soil preparation.
9. Providing access to water and basic maintenance assistance as required.
the Centralized Exterior Compactor/Bulk Debris Compound.
11. Emptying waste receptacles.
12. Performing related duties.
