Job Summary

THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED A SALARY BETWEEN $105000.00-$115000.00

The Administration for Childrens Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services and provides subsidized child care vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child juvenile justice ACS oversees detention placement and programs for youth in the community.

ACS Nicholas Scoppetta Childrens Center (NSCC) is a 24-hour shift-based operation providing services for New York Citys highly vulnerable population of abused and/or neglected children who have been removed from their parents/caregivers. On average the Childrens Center serves approximately 2500 unique children entering or re-entering the foster care system as they await
transition to return home stay with kin or placement in longer-term foster care settings. The Intake Unit is responsible for ensuring that children arriving at the Childrens Center are are received and oriented in a welcoming/warm manner and they are logged into the system.

The Deputy Director will report to the Senior Director of Intake. This position will fill in leadership gaps and will allow the Senior Director Intake to have more capacity to review standardize and improve staff training and accountability enhance business processes and protocols and data management and perform data analysis and support for intake staff and leadership when managing needs of children and youth with specialized and/or complex needs.

Key Responsibilities of Deputy Director will include but not limited to:

- Provide direct supervision and support and supervise across all shifts (morning afternoon and overnight) in collaboration/coordination with Senior Director of Intake.

- Assist with oversight of day-to-day operations to maintain program quality and compliance with established policies and procedures.

- Ensure face sheets are completed accurately and capture pertinent background clinical current and historical case related information.

- Oversee the Engagement Specialists operations to ensure youth are supported when they enter the program.

- Serve as a liaison with the Office of Transportation Services for community trip coordination.

- Coordinate with ACS Police to ensure the safety of children and staff during the admissions process and family visitation.

- Collaborate with DCP visitation team to promote family visitation and ensure visitation occur regularly.

- Ensure consistent communication and collaboration across shifts to support seamless program operations and review daily shift summaries for accuracy.

- Support staff development coaching and performance evaluations in collaboration with the Senior Director.

- Contribute to data collection audits analysis and reporting requirements related to program performance and compliance.

- Assist with managing coverage gaps and ensuring adequate staffing levels across the program.

- Oversee incident management reporting and follow-up to maintain accountability and improve outcomes.

Special Note:

- The selected candidate will be tasked with addressing urgent operational concerns during non-business hours and weekends.

ADMINISTRATIVE DIRECTOR OF RES - 1001B


Qualifications :

1. A masters degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and four years of full-time paid professional experience in a child care institution or in group work with children in a child care setting including two years in an administrative capacity; or

2. A masters degree from an accredited college in sociology psychology education public administration or a closely related field and five years of full-time paid professional experience as described in 1 above including two years in an administrative capacity; or

3. Education and/or experience equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However all candidates must have two years of administrative experience in a child care setting.
