About the Position:
The RBT will work under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and in coordination with the Director of Student Services to implement behavior intervention plans support students with behavioral challenges and promote skill acquisition. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children with special needs and the ability to work collaboratively with other educational staff. The RBT assists educators case managers and therapists with students in and out of the classroom to meet instructional goals and objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement individualized behavior intervention plans as designed and directed by the supervising BCBA to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors.
- Assist students in developing essential skills through structured teaching and reinforcement strategies.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress including educational and behavioral data according to established protocols and guidelines.
- Provide 1:1 or small group support to students with disabilities and/or behavioral challenges in a variety of settings (classroom special education settings etc.)
- Assist in conducting functional behavior assessments (FBAs) by observing students and gathering behavioral data.
- Work collaboratively with teachers related service providers counselors and other school personnel to support students academic and behavioral goals.
- Communicate regularly with the BCBA regarding student progress challenges and any modifications to behavior plans.
- Utilize positive reinforcement techniques to encourage appropriate behaviors and skill development.
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support when necessary following safety protocols.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training to maintain RBT certification and enhance skills.
- Ensure confidentiality of information regarding students employees and others and adhere to ethical guidelines set forth by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team; working with diverse groups of individuals.
- Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students with special education needs. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students staff and other contacts in the course of working in the district.
- Follow all applicable safety rules procedures and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students including those with disabilities or other special needs.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) is required.
- High school diploma or equivalent (college coursework in psychology education or a related field is a plus).
- Experience working with individuals with all (13) educational disabilities is preferred.
- Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and practices is essential.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with students families and team members.
