We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineering Consultant to support large-scale infrastructure renovation and replacement projects. This role focuses on ensuring that mechanical designs technical decisions and project deliverables meet required standards for safety quality and performance.
You will work closely with contractors and multidisciplinary teams to deliver sustainable reliable and future-proof infrastructure solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance of designs technical solutions and deliverables with established requirements
- Develop and review:
- Requirements specifications
- System specifications
- Cost estimates
- Assess contractor proposals designs and execution plans for quality and compliance
- Monitor project progress and evaluate delivered work against agreements
- Identify risks deviations and improvement opportunities and act proactively
- Review technical documentation including FME(C)A analyses and handover files
- Contribute to defining project scope customer requirements and procurement specifications
- Provide clear technical advice (written and verbal) to support decision-making
- Safeguard interfaces between mechanical civil and electrical disciplines
- Support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the team
Requirements
- Higher education (Bachelors or Masters) in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Minimum 3 years experience in a client-facing advisory/consultancy role within mechanical engineering
- Minimum 3 years experience in design and maintenance of mechanical systems in infrastructure (e.g. bridges locks pumping stations or similar movable structures)
- Minimum 5 years experience with:
- Machine safety frameworks
- CE marking processes
- Technical Construction Dossiers (TCDs)
- Valid VCA VOL certification (Safety for Operational Supervisors)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with infrastructure-related standards and guidelines
- Knowledge of structural calculations (e.g. Eurocodes)
- Experience drafting functional and technical specifications for engineering procurement
- Experience reviewing mechanical structural calculations for movable infrastructure
