Job Summary

We are working closely alongside a local authority in Epsom and Ewell to assist with the appointment of a Benefits Assistant on a 1.5-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 13.46 - 17.42 per hour

Summary:

As a Benefits Assistant you will play a foundational role in the smooth operation of the Housing Benefit service. You will be responsible for providing high-quality administrative support ensuring that all incoming and outgoing documentation is processed accurately and will act as a key point of contact for customer communications and a vital link in the document management lifecycle. As a member of the Epsom and Ewell team you will contribute to the Councils corporate vision and high-performing culture maintaining a professional and organized environment that supports both your colleagues and the local community.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and scan all incoming post importing documents into the document management system (DMS).
  • Categorize documents and emails on the DMS ensuring correct correspondence types and workflow actions are assigned for specialist staff.
  • Manage the daily dispatch of outgoing post (not handled by external printers) including the secure handling of valuable items in coordination with the Revenues Assistant.
  • Ensure the team is fully equipped by monitoring and ordering stationery leaflets and forms and keeping printers/photocopiers stocked with consumables.

Essentials:

  • Proven experience in scanning and indexing documents within a formal document management system.
  • Competent knowledge of MS Office products specifically Word and Excel.
  • A satisfactory BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check is required for this post.
