Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) is a unique Indigenous Institute recognized by community government and institutions of higher learning as a Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Knowledge. JOB PURPOSE

The Skilled Trades Assistant provides coordinated administrativestudent-support and communicationsassistanceto Skilled Trades programs. The role focuses on supporting student employability initiativesmaintainingaccurateprogram and employment-related data andassistingwith program promotion events and recruitment activities.


The Assistant is required to perform all duties consistent with the governance values and operating policies of Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) while fostering positive relations with staff students stakeholders and the community; contributing to a culturally supportive teaching learning and work environment consistent with Hodinǫshǫ:nih/Rotinonhson:ni values of Ganigohi:yo:/Kanikoriio (Respect and the Good Mind).



KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Student Employability and Placement Support 30%

  • Provides direct support to students with employability preparation including resume and cover letter reviewandjobsearch guidance
  • Coordinates and posts work placementand apprenticeship opportunities; tracks student applications and placement outcomes
  • Maintainsaccuraterecords related to studentwork placement applicationactivities
  • Other related duties asrequired.

GeneralAdministration Data Tracking and Reporting Support 30%

  • Maintains and updates program databases trackers spreadsheets and electronic filing systems to ensure accuracy consistency and accessibility
  • Gathers compiles and organizes data and documentationrequiredfor Ministry reporting program surveys and internal reporting
  • Supports office administration functions including tracking requests coordinating supplies managing records and ensuring deadlines are met
  • Other related duties asrequired.

Communications Events and Program Promotion 20%

  • Assistswith planning coordinating and delivering career fairs information sessions workshops orientations and community outreach activities
  • Updatesandmaintainspresentation and programpromotional materials to support recruitment andincreaseprogram awareness
  • Supports communication initiatives related to program intake cycles events and student success stories
  • Ensures materials align with branding and accessibility standards
  • Other related duties asrequired.

Frontline Servicesand Support 10%

  • Provides frontline service support to students employersstaffand community partners responding to inquiries and directing requests appropriately
  • Other related duties asrequired.

Institutional/ Program Engagement & Administration 10%

  • Supporting funding applications and gathering required documentation
  • Promoting a respectful collaborative and culturally supportive learning environment consistent with SNP values
  • Other related duties asrequired.

EDUCATIONAL KNOWLEDGE

Completion of post-secondary college or university of one to two years in Office Administration Business Administration Communications Education ora relatedfield.

EXPERIENTIAL KNOWLEDGE / CULTURE AND LANGUAGE EXPERTISE

Up to and including 1 year of experience providing administrative and/or student support in an educational training or workforcedevelopment environment.

Criminal Record Check

The successful candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Background Check Vulnerable Sector Screening that is satisfactory to Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) prior to the first day of work at Six Nations Polytechnic and an Offence Declaration that is satisfactory to SNP by their first day of employment at Six Nations Polytechnic.

WORK MODEL:On-site

PAY BAND: 2; Core range $ $40540.79$ $47500.00The target hiring salary for this position is minimum (Step 1) up to 45% of the pay band. Considerations for new hire step placements include experiential knowledge and/or language and cultural expertise.
