Description

The Captain-In-Charge (CIC) is responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of the riverboat in compliance with all applicable regulatory agency regulations year-round completing quarterly inspections and having the riverboat fully ready for ABS Consulting. Inc.s annual and semi-annual inspections. CIC should always be professional and possess good communication skills. CIC must display integrity and honesty in all aspects of employment.



Responsibilities
  • Provides extraordinary guest service positively effects interactions with external and internal guests and employees and has the resiliency to deal with difficult guests in all types of business conditions and the ability to work harmoniously with co-workers.

  • Adheres to and enforces compliance with all regulations established by Louisiana State Police Gaming Division United States Coast Guard ABS Consulting Inc. and other applicable agencies pertaining to riverboat gaming and riverboat operations while adhering to the policies and procedures set forth by Horseshoe Bossier City and Caesars Entertainment.

  • Maintains all equipment onboard the riverboat at a level commensurate with a premier gaming operation by using a preventative maintenance schedule inspections and tracking of tasks assigned/completed.

  • Directs all riverboat personnel to complete projects maintenance/repair tasks and cleaning duties with a minimal impact to guest service. Maintains through supervision and direct observation a continuous awareness of all operational areas.

  • Assists in sub-contractor service negotiations and follows up on contact work to ensure timely completion and fulfillment of company expectations.

  • Manages routine and preventative maintenance programs all emergency procedures including fire evacuation etc. for the riverboat. Ensures that all emergencies are drilled and documented regularly (every emergency drilled at least quarterly) to guarantee that employees are proficient and prepared to handle any emergency.

  • Ensures compliance with OSHA standards and regulations as well as state local and federal ordinances.

  • Manages small projects such as re-configurations and small construction projects as assigned by the Director of Facilities/Marine Operations.

  • Participates and contributes toward the initiatives established for the Marine Operations department.

  • Provides comprehensive training on riverboat systems to other selected riverboat personnel.

  • Assists the Director of Facilities/Marine Operations in preparing operating budgets monitoring budgetary compliance and acting on budget variance items. Executes all tasks assigned by the Director of Facilities/Marine Operations.



Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Documents that establish both identity and employment eligibility

  • Valid drivers license

  • Preferred License:

    Holds or has held a USCG-issued Master 1600 Gross Ton license. If expired it is not older than 5 years and has not been revoked or suspended.

  • Required License:

    Must have held at least a USCG-issued Mate 500 Gross Ton near Coastal or Master 100 Gross Ton license for at least 5 years and if the license is not current the expired license may not be older than 5 years and must not been revoked or suspended.

  • High degree of interpersonal skills

  • Ability to obtain Key LA Gaming License and Responsible Vendor Certification.
  • Must have strong leadership and team building skills

  • Must be detail oriented

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook Excel and Word

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to create or read and interpret documents such as riverboat schematics blueprints construction drawings and policy and procedure documents.

  • Ability to draft routine correspondence and process needed reports.

  • Ability to speak effectively with customers and/or employees.

  • Ability to create or carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form.

  • Ability to deal with problems and implement effective solutions.

  • Ability to be flexible in working varying shifts and time schedules as needed.

  • Ability to operate in a working environment that is subject to varying levels of noise cold heat humidity vibration crowds and smoke and

  • Ability to pass a chemical dependency test as required and work in a drug free environment.
