The Cost Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for automotive stampings and welded assemblies. This role supports quoting engineering and project teams by developing cost models evaluating feasibility and ensuring designs are optimized for production and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare detailed cost estimates for stampings and welded assemblies
- Develop cost breakdowns and compile complete customer quotations
- Evaluate engineering changes for cost impact and manufacturability
- Review RFQs and technical documents for completeness and feasibility
- Plan and recommend optimal manufacturing processes using simulation and process tools
- Collaborate with engineering sales and project teams to gather cost inputs
- Support design teams to ensure cost-effective and production-ready solutions
- Maintain and update cost data in internal systems (CIM / CDB)
- Execute estimation activities aligned with PDP workflows and timelines
- Provide cost analysis and support to local and global project teams
- Contribute to the development and standardization of estimation practices
- Act as a point of contact for cost-related queries across departments
- 5 years of engineering experience in automotive stampings or welded assemblies
- 3 years of cost estimating experience in manufacturing
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and cost drivers
- Proficiency in Excel estimation tools and cost databases
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Experience with CAD software (e.g. Visi)
- Familiarity with cost databases (CIM CDB)
- Exposure to simulation tools or process development workflows
- Experience working with global teams
- Experience with automotive OEM or Tier 1 suppliers
- Knowledge of APQP / PDP processes
- Experience supporting design for manufacturability (DFM)
- Hybrid work model (3 days onsite)

- High level of collaboration with engineering sales and production teams
