Contribute towards National Structural Design Strategy maintenance of professional standards quality control and continuous professional development.
The Structural Engineer Mobile Telecommunications is responsible for the structural assessment design and certification of mobile telecommunications infrastructure including towers rooftops poles and associated foundations. The role supports the safe deployment upgrade and maintenance of mobile networks in compliance with Australian Standards carrier requirements and regulatory obligations.
Key Responsibilities
Structural Engineering & Design
- Undertake structural analysis and design of mobile telecommunications structures including:
- Lattice and monopole towers
- Rooftop installations
- Poles masts and street furniture
- Foundations and ancillary structures
- Headframes
- Assess existing structures for:
- New carrier loadings
- Equipment upgrades (e.g. antennas RRUs AAUs)
- Strengthening or modification requirements
- Prepare structural calculations design reports drawings and certifications.
Site Assessments
- Verify structural condition dimensions and constructability.
- Identify structural risks constraints and remediation requirements.
- Support Safety in Design (SiD) risk assessments relating to structural elements.
Compliance & Certification
- Ensure all designs comply with:
- Relevant Australian Standards (e.g. AS/NZS)
- Carrier specifications (Telstra Optus TPG etc.)
- Local authority and planning requirements
- Provide engineering certifications and signoff as required.
Key Skills & Experience
- Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of structural analysis and design principles.
- Experience with telecommunications infrastructure highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards.
- Experience with structural analysis software (e.g. SpaceGass Strand7 SAP2000 or similar).
- Ability to interpret and produce structural drawings.
Experience
- 2 years experience in structural engineering (level dependent).
- Experience in the deployment and upgrade of Mobile Facilities steel structures or infrastructure environments preferred.
- Experience supporting multidisciplinary projects is environments desirable.
Qualifications & Accreditation
- Bachelors degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
