The Director BioPharma Services Laboratory Operations provides strategic and operational leadership ensuring worldclass execution across quality compliance and scientific delivery. This role is critical to advancing our BioPharma Services business through strong regulatory stewardship operational excellence and the successful integration of new technologies.
In this role you will set the vision and direction for the laboratory cultivate a culture of quality and accountability and work crossfunctionally to align laboratory capabilities with business priorities. You will also play a key role in transferring new technologies into the lab enabling innovation and expanding our service offerings to meet evolving client and market needs.
Heres what youll do:
- Manage operations for all phases of the laboratory process (preanalytical analytical post analytical)
- Work effectively with Project Management Data Management Business Development and other associated groups to meet client needs and timelines
- Support client and internal audit processes by providing information expertise and appropriate and on-time responses to audit facilitation and findings as applicable
- Support Companys quality improvement program and ensure quality systems are implemented maintained and monitored to remain compliant with regulatory and accrediting agencies
- Successfully and positively communicate the philosophies goals and objectives of the company to employees
- Work with Viracor Eurofins Inc. and R&D to develop and support validation and introduction of new technologies for clinical trials
- Develop and implement technical and administrative policies and procedures
- Direct the laboratory staffs educational and training programs
- Participate in the budget process and monitor department budget to meet financial goals of the business
- Demonstrate effective teamwork skills by sharing information and encouraging input from others
- Maintain technical superior staff through ongoing training development of department employees proper recruitment/hiring of new employees and employee termination when appropriate
- Conduct regularly scheduled staff meetings and provide regular communication
- Provide guidance and strategic direction for the overall growth of the department
- Demonstrate ability to manage conflicts and issues regarding matters of significance
- Demonstrate ability to make hiring and termination decisions
- Utilize strong network of contacts both inside and outside the Company
- Employ sufficient number of properly qualified lab personnel to meet growing test volumes at Viracor Eurofins BioPharma Services
- Represent department and the organization favorably and in accordance with established Company standards and associate attributes
Qualifications :
The ideal candidate:
- Bachelors degree required; additional academic training (i.e. MA/MS) a plus
- Five (5) years experience managing clinical laboratory operations
- Broad knowledge of business operations
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements
- Ability to foster team building; mutual respect; Associate development; problem solving abilities; budget and fiscal responsibility
- Ability to partner directly with department managers to assist in meeting business needs
- Superior collaboration and organizational development skills
- Exceptional leadership skills
- Willing to work outside normal business hours as job dictates
Physical requirements:
- Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands arms and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard and other office equipment use a telephone access file cabinets and other items stored at various levels including overhead
- Ability to speak and hear well enough to communicate clearly and understandably with sufficient volume to ensure an accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance over the telephone and in a group setting
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time as necessary in the laboratory (4 or more hours)
- Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 15 pounds
- Physical dexterity sufficient to move body frequently around laboratory equipment and instrumentation
- Ability to continuously operate a personal computer for extended periods of time (4 or more hours)
- Mental acuity sufficient to collect and interpret data evaluate reason define problems establish facts draw valid conclusions make valid judgments and decisions

Additional Information :
The position is full-time Monday-Friday 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. with overtime as needed.
