Job Summary

Our Central Research department in Zürich-Altstetten conducts global research projects within Sikas core technologies bridging the gap between fundamental science and product development. To complement the Polymer Materials team we are looking for a Scientist with the following tasks:

  • Planning and execution of polymer chemistry research projects conducting laboratory experiments related to monomer and polymer synthesis modification and formulation
  • Characterizing polymer materials using chemical-analytical and physical testing methods
  • Researching and assessing technical state-of-the-art by evaluating scientific literature patents chemical databases market information i.a.
  • Analyzing experimental data documenting results and preparing technical reports and presentations
  • Supporting internal partners with the practical implementation of project results toward commercial use assisting in troubleshooting formulation or processing issues
  • Engaging with external academic / industry partners managing joint projects
  • Supervising assigned staff (lab technicians interns apprentices) as required

Qualifications :

  • MSc / preferably PhD in Chemistry or Materials Science with expertise in organic and polymer chemistry optionally organometallics and catalysis
  • Proficiency in practical laboratory work esp. for molecular and/or polymer synthesis and in classical analytical testing methods (NMR GC HPLC DSC i.a.)
  • Familiarity with grant-funded projects and academic publishing
  • First practical experience in industrial R&D
  • Proficiency in English knowledge of German is a plus
