The role is based within the Government Records Team part of the Customer Services Operations & Archives Directorate within the National Records of Scotland (NRS). It offers the opportunity to work in the friendly supportive team which is responsible for selecting cataloguing and making available the historical records of the Scottish Government Scotlands national public authorities and public inquiries.
As Retransmissions Administrator you will oversee the day to day running of our retransmissions service where records are temporarily returned to the depositor as well as support and deliver a range of administrative and archive-related activities.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day to day running of the retransmissions and digital retransmissions service including monitoring requests responding to clients liaising with colleagues ordering and preparing records for retransmission or digitisation maintaining accurate paper and electronic audit trails of outgoing and incoming records and preparing regular statistics for internal and external stakeholders.
- Undertake cataloguing of unlisted records to improve access to NRS collections. This will include the use of Excel.
- Assist in the invigilation of records being consulted by depositors and researchers.
- Carry out searches of records in paper and microfilm format to assist with requests from depositors.
- Provide administrative support to the Government Records Team including monitoring the Government Records mailbox logging and assigning requests as required.
This role is a permanent level transfer position.
