The Opportunity

We are seeking an articulate and inspiring English Teacher to join our communications faculty. This role involves teaching Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 with significant opportunities to deliver A-Level English Literature or Language. You will be responsible for fostering a love of reading and a mastery of writing ensuring students can navigate both the classics and the complexities of modern discourse.


The Department

Core Responsibilities

  1. Delivering high-impact lessons that balance the technical rigour of English Language (grammar structure rhetoric) with the analytical depth of English Literature.

  2. Teaching students how to deconstruct complex texts identifying nuances in tone symbolism and perspective across poetry prose and drama.

  3. Preparing Year 11 and Year 13 students for GCSE and A-Level examinations with a particular focus on high-level essay construction and comparative analysis.

  4. Implementing robust literacy and vocabulary-building strategies to ensure all students can express themselves with clarity and sophistication.

  5. Leading extracurricular initiatives such as creative writing circles debate societies or the schools student-led magazine.


The Successful Candidate We are looking for a bibliophile and a master communicator who can make the written word come alive. Requirements include:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in English Literature English Language or a related field.

  • A proven ability to motivate students of all abilities fostering a classroom environment where critical thinking and respectful debate are encouraged.

  • Strong subject knowledge across the current GCSE and A-Level specifications (e.g. AQA Edexcel or OCR).

  • The ability to use physical and digital modelling to show students exactly how to bridge the gap between a thought and a high-level written response.
