Overview
Responsibilities of Shipping & Receiving Clerk
The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for:
- Pulling orders accurately in preparation for prompt shipment and verification.
- Keeping accurate records of all materials received and issued.
- Verifying that materials are delivered to the correct departments or properly stored in the warehouse.
- Receiving all special items for projects inspecting and storing them until requested for projects.
- Loading all items being requested in a safe manner.

Specific Responsibilities of Shipping & Receiving Clerk
The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for:
- Receiving and unloading incoming materials.
- Helping load all material orders that have been pulled for jobs.
- Noting back/ordered items.
- Inspecting items according to instructions; reporting damaged goods to supervisor; and arranging for any necessary returns.
- Entering receipt of goods into computerized inventory records including item number quantity price etc. according to instructions.
- Using dolly or carrying small items to proper department or storage place within the warehouse.
- Reconciling computer records with physical inventory according to established schedule.
- Reporting any discrepancies to supervisor.
- Packaging orders for out-of-town shipments.
- Performing other duties and assignments as directed by management.
- Capable of reading instructions from material orders that need to be filled.
- Accurately organizing materials to maintain clean and neat work areas.
- Keeping all items in a safe and orderly storage area until they are requested.
- Keeping the warehouse clean and neat.
- Ensuring that requested items are loaded safely and timely.
- Advising Warehouse Manager whenever backorders occur.
- Preparing any and all items needing to be shipped out by freight carrier.
Qualifications
Required Education Experience and Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or GED.
Experience and Skills
- Ability to input data on computer to create a daily inventory report.
- Accuracy in recordkeeping and in sorting checking counting and verifying items received.
- Able to operate forklift in a safe and professional manner.
- Good communication skills: verbal and written.
- Must have a valid drivers license.
- Computer proficiency.
- Accurately organize items to maintain a clean and neat area.
- Good finger dexterity to input data into inventory records.
- Great concern for cleanliness.
- Able to have knowledge of electrical parts and their functions.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Well-versed in the industry and the companys competitors.
- Excellent multitasking skills with the ability to perform duties outside the scope of work when necessary.

Travel Requirements
- 0-5% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.
Physical/Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to remain calm in times of heightened emotional situations.
- Climb ladders of all types.
- Good visual acuity to inspect shipments.
- Repetitive use of arms hands and fingers.
- Must be able to bend stoop squat crawl and climb kneel balance push pull and reach overhead.
- Ability to work while constantly moving on ones feet.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions and temperatures in the warehouse and on the loading dock.
- Physical strength to lift up to 25 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
