Overview
We are seeking a skilled Pipe Welder to join our commercial construction team. The ideal candidate will have experience welding various types of piping systems and must successfully pass a 6G weld certification test. This role requires precision safety awareness and the ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding on commercial piping systems
- Read and interpret blueprints isometric drawings and welding symbols
- Execute high-quality welds using processes such as SMAW (stick) GTAW (TIG) and/or MIG as required
- Prepare materials by cutting grinding and fitting pipes to specifications
- Inspect welds to ensure they meet industry standards and project requirements
- Maintain welding equipment and tools in safe working condition
- Follow all safety regulations and job site protocols
- Collaborate with supervisors pipefitters and other trades to complete projects efficiently
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- Must pass a 6G pipe welding certification test (required)
- 2 years of experience as a pipe welder in commercial or industrial construction
- Strong knowledge of welding techniques materials and equipment
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications
- Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (e.g. ASME AWS)
- Ability to work at heights in confined spaces and in varying weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Preferred Education and Experience
- Current welding certifications (AWS ASME or equivalent)
- OSHA safety training (e.g. OSHA 10 or 30)
- Preferred 5 years of experience as a pipe welder in commercial or industrial construction
Travel Requirements
- May require overtime weekends and travel depending on project needs
Physical/Work Environment Requirements
- Remaining in a stationary position often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
Environmental Conditions
- Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind
Physical Demands
- Medium work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 50 pounds
