Are you an experienced Construction Liability Underwriter looking for the next step in your career
We are seeking a technically strong and commercially astute Senior Construction Liability Underwriter to join a growing underwriting team. This is an opportunity to play a key role in developing and managing a profitable construction-focused liability portfolio across Employers Liability Public Liability and Contractors Combined risks.
This role offers real autonomy strong broker exposure and the chance to contribute to strategic portfolio growth within a dynamic and ambitious underwriting environment.
The Role
You will be responsible for underwriting new and renewal construction liability business within delegated authority applying disciplined risk selection and pricing to deliver sustainable profitable growth.
Alongside underwriting you will support portfolio management broker development and continuous improvement of underwriting standards and products.
Key Responsibilities
Underwrite new and renewal EL / PL / Contractors Combined construction risks
Apply underwriting appetite and pricing discipline to ensure profitability
Deliver growth in line with loss ratio and GWP targets
Monitor portfolio performance and identify trends or corrective actions
Build and maintain strong relationships with regional and national brokers
Identify and convert new business opportunities within target construction sectors
Provide technical referral support where required
Contribute to underwriting guidelines and product development initiatives
Maintain compliant audit-ready underwriting files
What Were Looking For
5 years experience underwriting UK construction liability risks
Strong knowledge of construction trades and associated liability exposures
Experience underwriting Employers Liability and Public Liability business
Proven track record of operating within underwriting authority
Demonstrated ability to build broker relationships and drive new business
Strong analytical skills and confident decision-making capability
Commercially focused with a disciplined underwriting approach
