Chief Transportation Officer

• Direct manage and coordinate daily rail activities to ensure safe efficient and effective train operations
• Administer and enforce departmental safety programs operating rules and regulatory compliance
• Develop operating procedures standards and performance metrics (KPMs) to improve safety and reliability
• Supervise transportation personnel and oversee scheduling.
• Coordinate activities with other departments outside agencies and contractors to ensure smooth service
• Deep understanding of rail transportation operations safety regulations and labor contracts
• Other projects and duties as assigned

• Five (5) or more years of supervisory or combined supervisory and operating experience in railroad operations. Familiarity with commuter passenger NICTD and/or Metra Electric commuter operations is preferred but not required
• Demonstrated superior interpersonal skills and ability to work with the public employees and other departments within NICTD
• Strong leadership decision-making analytical and communication skills.
• Valid drivers license with a safe driving record
• Basic or better proficiency in Microsoft Office products
