JOB TITLE:

Academic Athletics Intern

JOB PURPOSE:

The Office of Academic Support is accepting applications for interns. Interns will be assisting with various office duties include front desk monitoring as well as working directly with student-athletes during team study hall periods. Interns will be asked to complete grade reports and be a part of grade monitoring. Other duties will be assigned as needed.

Interns will assist Academic Coordinators in a controlled academic setting in order to support students during their objective-based study time while practicing the highest level of academic and personal integrity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Intern may work in a one-on-one or small group setting and are expected to establish rapport with the student-athlete while exuding patience trust and confidentiality regarding any correspondence between intern and student.
  • Interns will be trained at the beginning of each semester on the specific NCAA rules applied to working with student-athletes.
  • Interns will be tasked with jobs that require high attention to detail. The ability to complete tasks correctly and within a timely manner is essential.
  • Hours per week may fluctuate from week to week depending on student need availability and student-athlete competition and exceptional time management will be of utmost importance between the Intern and the Internship Coordinator.
  • The Office of Academic Support hours of operation are Monday-Thursday 8 am - 10 pm Friday 8 am - 5 pm and Sunday 12 pm - 5 pm. Interns will set their availability within these hours.
  • Interns will be paid $15/hour. At the end of each semester interns will be evaluated for continuing employment. If invited back hourly rate will increase to a maximum of $18/hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Must be at least a sophomore by class standing.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The skills necessary for this position include active listening professionalism reliability and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Applicants must also possess exceptional communication and time management skills.

WORK LOCATION:

On-campus: This position provides vital support to campus customers and the successful candidate must be available to work and perform essential job functions on campus understanding our location is at 7220 feet above sea level.
