Openshift Infrastructure Engineer Secure Platforms Engineering Kubernetes (SC Clearance)

Position Description:

As an OpenShift Infrastructure Engineer you will play a key role in designing building and operating containerised platforms that enable scalable resilient and secure solutions. Due to the secure nature of the programme you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This position will be based on site near Gloucester 5 days a week.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

In this role you will design deploy and manage OpenShift-based infrastructure ensuring high availability performance and scalability across containerised environments. You will take ownership of platform reliability leveraging automation and infrastructure-as-code to deliver consistent and efficient deployments aligned with business and technical requirements.

You will collaborate closely with DevOps and development teams to support CI/CD integration and evolving application needs. Within a collaborative and expert-led environment you will contribute innovative approaches to platform engineering enhance automation practices and ensure robust disaster recovery and continuity capabilities.

Design & Manage OpenShift clusters and container platforms

Automate & Streamline infrastructure using Ansible OpenStack and scripting

Orchestrate & Maintain container workloads using Kubernetes

Monitor & Optimise platform performance capacity and resilience

Support & Integrate CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows

Implement & Maintain disaster recovery and backup solutions

Collaborate & Align with cross-functional engineering teams

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

You should have strong experience in container platform engineering with hands-on expertise in OpenShift Kubernetes and infrastructure automation.

You will bring a proactive approach to platform reliability and a strong understanding of modern cloud-native infrastructure within secure or enterprise environments.

You should have proven experience with OpenShift and Kubernetes

Strong understanding of containerised infrastructure and microservices

Experience with automation tools (e.g. Ansible OpenStack Terraform)

Proficiency in scripting (e.g. Bash Python)

Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

Knowledge of infrastructure resilience backup and disaster recovery

Familiarity with secure or regulated environments is advantageous
